Flower carpet 2002

The overall appearance of this garden could be summarised in 3 major parts: 2 similar, symmetrical squares surrounding a large rectangle. What first catches the eye in the design of these Flower Carpets is the predominance of round patterns.

When the gardens of Versailles inspire creator Mark Schautteet, the composition is dazzling. Circles, curves and volutes, leaf balls, not to mentioned the stylised Saint Michael who gives the impression of being inscribed in a circle, the shrubs cut to a point and water fountains …. The illusion was just perfect.
